Nestled in the serene beauty of an unspoilt French landscape, you’ll stay in a charming 16th-century Château, where timeless elegance meets modern comfort.

This retreat is an invitation to deepen your practice, no matter your level. Whether you’re a beginner eager to build a solid foundation or an experienced practitioner looking to refine your technique, Laruga’s expert teaching will offer you the tools, insights, and support to cultivate confidence and clarity in your practice.

Through daily Mysore-style sessions (except for the first day, which will be a Led class), Laruga will guide you through the fundamental elements of Ashtanga Yoga, helping you to build strength, flexibility, and mindfulness. In addition to the daily practice, you’ll also enjoy workshops that dive deeper into the challenges of the practice—exploring techniques, adjustments, and philosophy in a safe, supportive environment.

Accommodation

Ashtanga France is located in a 16th-century Château, fully renovated with comfortable and spacious bedrooms, cozy living areas, and a sumptuous dining room.

The house is set on 30 acres of grounds, which include woodlands, ancient trees, a beautiful lake, and singing birds every morning. The Château also offers two swimming pools, sun loungers, and plenty of space to rest and relax.

Our food

During Laruga’s retreat, we focus on providing wholesome, nourishing, and freshly prepared vegan and vegetarian meals. We source organic vegetables and fruits from local farmers, supporting sustainable practices and ensuring the highest quality ingredients.

We believe that the best meals are those made with love, care and the finest, seasonally available produce.

Things to do and see

Asthanga France is located in a peaceful, scenic setting — perfect for rest and relaxation. But if you feel like taking a break away from the house or the calm rhythm of the retreat, there’s plenty to enjoy in the nearby area. Here are a few suggestions:

• Cycle along the canal

• Visit charming local villages such as Nérac, Condom, Lectoure, and Agen

• Shop fresh produce and handmade goods at the local markets

• Take a gentle walk in nature

• Or simply pick up a yoga book from the library and relax by the pool

Sightseeing day

To give everyone a chance to explore a bit more of the region, there will be one free day with no workshops during the retreat. Students will vote on their preferred destination from the following options: Bordeaux, Toulouse or Saint-Émilion. If there is enough space in the car, the host will be happy to drive students to the chosen destination. Otherwise, travel by train will be the alternative (1h20 min journey).

Please note: train tickets are not included in the retreat price.

About

Laruga Glaser

Laruga has been practicing Ashtanga yoga continuously for over 27 years. Starting in the beginning of her 20s, she was immediately drawn to the practice after working with other forms of yoga years prior. After establishing a committed practice, she then deepened her studies traveling to Mysore, India annually to practice at KPJAYI where the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois taught and now his grandson, R. Sharath Jois teaches.

Laruga has made more than 15 trips to Mysore and is on a mission to continue to learn and grow as a student as well as a teacher. She is one of the few in the world who have been given the distinction of being certified to teach up to Advanced B, which is not easily given and takes many years to earn. Through it all, Laruga teaches as an act of deep sharing and love for what yoga develops in each individual, facilitating space to open, challenge, and inspire those to realize their inherent potential, and has been personally invited all over the world to do so.
