Shala
From first-time retreat students to advanced practitioners, our intention is to offer a personalised and immersive experience for small groups of up to eighteen students.
Each retreat is designed to deepen your understanding of your practice, support your self-practice, and cultivate the awareness needed to practice safely and confidently in larger studio classes once you return home.
Our Shala started life many centuries ago as a cow barn and we started the complex repurposing project in 2020. After clearing hundreds of years of neglect, we soon realised that this was going to be a big job, not least because the original floor was nearly a metre higher at one end. Two weeks of digging through earth and rocks finally leveled the base from which to work, firstly replacing the floor beams that sadly had had their day.
The project took 18 months and we hope you enjoy the studio as much as we did renovating this inspiring space.
The Shala enjoys endless light with cooling fans for the summer months and underfloor heating for the cooler times. We are fully equipped with Manduka mats, blocks, blankets and other accessories that can help to improve your practice.
